Opal
A comforting soft skin musk with notes of sandalwood, vanilla, musk, bergamot, and ambrette. Cozy, sweet but not not overly so, and comfy year-round. The sandalwood, musk, and vanilla work together to create a soothing base and the touch of bergamot adds freshness.

Perfumer's Comments:: Many musk scents smell too synthetic to me, so it’s a challenge to create them. My favorite types are woodsy musks, and I’m currently working on a new one. Opal is a less woodsy, cozier type of musk, though it does have a touch of sandalwood. I’ve had people tell me Opal is their favorite scent for times when they need something that is “safe” to wear without bothering anyone around them because it’s a soft, quiet skin scent.

Opal is mostly a musk scent but has a light touch of vanilla and sandalwood. The vanilla orchid, Vanilla planifolia, produces vanilla beans used in cooking and perfume. The plants flower only when mature and the beans undergo a lengthy curing process, which adds to the cost of vanilla bean products. Synthetic vanillin is also used in food and fragrance.

Bergamot fruit from the tree Citrus bergamia is the source of a cold pressed essential oil with a fresh citrus aroma. The best bergamot oils usually come from Calabria, Italy. Bergamot is also used in Earl Grey tea.
