Fireside Intense

This smoky woods fragrance captures the oddly satisfying scent of smoked woods carried by the crisp fall air or emanating from an evening campfire. Fireside Intense opens with a fairly strong leather and smoke accord that mellows into a drydown of beautiful smoky woods, soft leather, and a touch of deep agarwoood. The fragrance has a very high percentage of natural oils and resins that provide a soft but lasting natural, outdoorsy drydown.

Perfumer's Comments: Sometimes in the fall and winter when I step outside I'll feel the sudden rush of cold air touched with woodsmoke from a neighbor's fire. I associate the scent of burning woods with the cool season and also with crisp summer nights by the campfire when I was young (our parents treated us to wonderful camping trips each summer). From first sniff, I’ve liked the smoke-tinged, spicy scent of guaiacwood and the outright woodsmoke of diluted birch tar. I wanted Fireside Intense to be a bottled reminder of the scent of an outdoorsy campfire.

Fragrance Notes: Guaiacwood, nagarmotha (Cyperus), Texas cedar, Himalayan cedar, Indian sandalwood, agarwood, birch tar, cade, leather, oakmoss absolute, castoreum, ambergris. For men and women.

Cyperus scariosus
Essential oil from Nagarmotha, or Cyperus, has a smoky, spicy, incensy, woody aroma. The plant is known as nutgrass or nutsedge because of its grassy leaves and tuberous/rhizomatic roots. The dry tubers are used in traditional herbal medicine as well as perfume. Nagarmotha helps give Fireside Intense its smoky, incensy character.
Guaiacwood, or Bulnesia sarmienti, is a semisolid material that smells spicy, smoky, and woodsy with sweet undertones; it's a pleasant aroma and is often used with rose. Rectified birch tar oil is derived from Betula alba and is very smoky with leather notes; it's used in the production of Russian leather. Birch tar oil must be extremely diluted because of its strength; only a low amount of the rectified oil is allowed under IFRA guidelines, but a tiny amount is all you need.
