Ylang oil comes from the yellow ylang ylang flower, which grows on the Cananga odorata tree. These trees are native to the Philippines and Indonesia. Much of the ylang oil grown for perfume comes from the Comoros Islands and Madagascar. The oil has a sweet, tropical floral scent with vanilla and spice facets. It is available in several fractions from distillation called extra, first, second, and third. It is also available as a complete oil, which is a longer distillation that is not fractioned. An absolute is also available.
